Connecting to the Network

Joining ABXY's IRC channel is fairly easy. Simply connect to the network irc://irc.abxy.org and join channel #abxy for gaming chat and socialization. If you do not already have an IRC client, you may download and install one for free by following the link below that corresponds with your operating system.

(Note: To connect to ABXY's IRC network via a secure connection (SSL), configure your IRC client to use port 6697.)

Using the Network

Once you have connected, join channel #abxy by typing /join #abxy. Once you have joined the channel, simply type something in the input box and hit enter (or return) to say it. Everyone currently in that channel will be able to see what you have typed.

It had a nasty bug. Skizzerz from StrategyWiki is working on getting a new page setup, though.

Colloquy is frustratingly different from other IRC clients, and it's a pain to set up new servers/channels. I wouldn't recommend it.

Firefox users should try Chatzilla, a simple but full-featured IRC client that integrates smoothly into the browser.

The only problem I have with Colloquy is that it boasts a ton of skins and plugins and has about six total.

Otherwise I was perfectly okay with it.

Once you have joined the channel, you will be unable to talk for about 3 minutes. To talk, you will need to register your chatting name by typing the following:
/ns register (A password you will remember) (An email address, fake preferred. )
After about 3 minutes.
Once you return to the channel, you will want to type:
/ns identify (The same password as before)
If you ever find you need help, type:
/notice Faint YOU SUCK

Heres a good one that I used yesterday; CGI IRC. Its a web-based IRC client that works on almost any browser without any Downloads. (
This also Works on your wii, which I have been using for the web for the past month now, since my computer went bodge.)

I have it set up now (for a while now, actually), all that still needs to be done is for echelon to setup the http://irc.abxy.org subdomain to point to it so that it can be usable again

The chat page is back up. It SHOULD auto-fill your forum name into the nick field if you are logged in... let me know if it doesn't and I'll debug that a bit more.
Also, if you have any extra themes (color schemes) or a better logo for the front (something that says abxy on it...), please let me know so I can do some swapping and better-ifying.

(note that it may be somewhat broken in terms of auto-filling in the nick and the lack of the advanced page for a few hours. I did some changes but the cache has yet to clear itself)
